On the whole, I really liked this episode, even though the theme song from
Beauty and The Beast kept running through my head the entire time. I think
my favorite part of the episode was that the sisters actually worked together to solve a problem. Much of the time during this season, the
sisters have been very much separate, with Paige off on her own magickal
quest, Phoebe with Jason and Piper busy with Wyatt and caring for the house
(although it makes me mad that Paige and Phoebe never help take care of the
housework!). However, this episode brought the sisters together to fight the
problem.
Another great part of this episode was the mystery. Usually the plot is easy to figure out and there is no mystery. I think the writers did a great
job setting up the mystery of it all, and it kept me curious through the
whole show. I could have done without the Beauty and The Beast rip-off, though. They even called him The Beast, which made it even worse.
Piper: Once again, another Piper-centric episode. (Yea!) I thought having
Piper reluctant to vanquish the demon baby was very believable, and who could blame her. That baby was adorable! I loved watching the two babies
play peek-a-boo with each other, and it was really funny that they refused
to be separated. I found it curious that the sisters were confused about why
the baby looked human. After all, most of the demons they have come across
have had human forms, including the children from the episode I would rather
forget even exists, “We all scream for ice cream.” I also wished they would
have acknowledged that Cole would have been much the same as the demon baby
when he was an infant.
Poor Piper is always being kidnapped! I also find it interesting that the sisters always try scrying for the lost sister, but it never works. I would
really begin to doubt the power of scrying if I were the sisters.
Phoebe: Phoebe has not been one of my favorite characters for the past few
seasons, but I could really sympathize with her in this episode. I loved her
excuse for the accidental “love you, too” slip. “I just said you twice,” she said. “I love you, you.” I thought that was so
funny. I did find it interesting that the “L” word hadn’t been brought up before,
though. After all, Jason and Phoebe have been dating for sometime, and
apparently have no qualms with doing it in front of the entire office.
Paige: I thought making Daryl invincible was hilarious, especially the scene
at the end with him breaking the phone and the desk. This plot just seemed
so disconnected from the main event, though, that I wish the writers could
have found some way to make this part of the main plot. But I am always glad
to see Daryl, so I’ll take what they give me. It may have been a little
irresponsible of Paige to give Daryl these super powers, and could cause him
some serious trouble with his superiors. Can you imagine explaining how you
could throw the perpetrator completely through the car?
I thought that Chris was taken off of the Charmed Ones’ “account?” So why
is he now back at the manor? One could assume that his removal was only temporary, but I would rather not assume. One sentence from Leo or Chris
could have explained to us why Chris is back.
The demons this week were really creepy. Did anyone else wonder why The Beast guy was so hard-up that he would sleep with a manticore? (Shudder.) If
he explained it to Piper, I couldn’t understand him during that one scene in
his home, so I may have missed it.
It’s all in the details:
All the clothes in this episode were fantastic, with one major exception:
what on earth was Phoebe wearing during that last scene with Jason? Ew, ew,
ew! That was horrible, and made her look like she had four boobs. Jason! Quit bragging about your money! We get it already, you are filthy
rich! “I canceled the flight. It is my plane, after all.” Grr!
