With the season finale fast approaching, it is fit that the writers would begin setting up the final storyline threads to affect the final episodes.  The main purpose that a viewer can see from this episode is the end result of Phoebe losing her active powers.  This will play such an enormous part in the finale, that many viewers probably can’t help but wonder how this will affect the outcome of this season.

While it is always delightful to take a step back and see some of the more “fun and crazy” moments of seasons past, the biggest enjoyment that many probably garnered from this episode was the return of Barbas (actor Billy Drago) and his devilishly evil ways and mannerisms.  Drago did as superb job in reminding the viewers why this Charmed foe was so formable that he has appeared three times to try and put the sisters down, although unsuccessfully in all attempts.

The fact that Barbas’ hatched another scheme that has to do with the undoing of the Charmed Ones is almost a mute point now.  It seems that this demon is on the path of destroying more than just the sister’s powers, but their life in a way too.  He was somewhat successful in that attempt by getting the council to strip Phoebe of her existing powers.

While it was good to see Cole and some of the old capers that the sisters had to deal with, it was a little disappointing that we weren’t able to see any past footage with Prue involved. While it is understandable since I’m sure the show has some sort of agreement with Shannen Doherty, it is sad to the viewers that have been so faithful since the beginning. This really seems to be a point that the executive producers and etc. should really look into for the future.

The fact that Leo and Chris were able to work together was also heartening. While it is acceptable for Chris to be upset with Leo about the seemingly lack of time that he was with Chris in the future, it was nice to see them both work together for their love of the sisters.  While it still has not all been reveled about what happens in the future, the audience has some clues and it should be interesting to see how everything plays out.

Gideon is still a mystery.  It was reveled at the end of this episode that his biggest fear was the sisters finding out that he wanted to take their son, Wyatt, and turn him evil, but it still wasn’t reveled why he would want to do this.  It is so frustrating for the viewers to know that Gideon is who the sisters are fighting for and yet see them place so much trust in him.  It will be a force to be reckoned with once everyone finds out just whose side the other are on.

While the Cleaners are never my favorites, it was nice to see that the writers are so consistent with the thoughts and strings of the storylines.  Allowing for the audience to see a consistency brings about a cannon for the history of the show, something that is vitally important for viewers who have been loyal since the beginning.

Overall, this was not an entirely important episode, but still vital for the storyline of the season to play out in a manner that will be exciting and hopefully suspenseful to the viewers.

  This-and-That

  • How great was it seeing all of the different hairdos over the years? Anyone who can tell me just how many Phoebe has gets a gold star!  My guess is near thirty of so, including color, style and wigs!
  • The confidence that Paige has is inspiring and refreshing.  She trusts in her abilities and isn’t afraid to voice her thoughts about Phoebe’s actions or mis-actions, as it may be, about magic.  This is something that Paige has slowly come into and another important characteristic that will probably be important.
So not many “picky” things that I noticed this week, well accept for the fact that it seemed that in some of the previews they showed scenes from other episodes that they didn’t use while on trial, did anyone else notice this or did I miss something?
