This
episode will be the landmark episode of the first half of the season, even
though I haven’t seen the future episodes yet. I say this because we got
to see a glimpse of things to come and how important the family bond needs to be
in order to protect Wyatt and the Charmed Ones.
For example:
Wyatt
in Pre-School - Here we got to see Wyatt finally interacting with
children in school and an open and fresh environment for him. I hope that
Charmed is given at least two more seasons so that the writers can continue
exploring Wyatt's powers as he gets older and us the fans can enjoy seeing him
carry on the Charmed Ones' legacy.
There's always the risk of him orbing out at any given moment though, and that
will bring exciting and new storylines for this show. The fact that he was
so easily persuaded by his teacher/demon shows us that although he is very
powerful, he is also very vulnerable and is a child nonetheless. Now more
than ever, Piper and Leo will have to keep and eye out for the dangers that can
continue to follow this little guy. And, how cute the pumpkin and mouse
costumes! It was such a refreshing look at a normal life that I haven't
seen in a while on Charmed. Piper stressing over the costumes and the
teacher was so natural, that I even felt the frustration. Holly Marie
Combs being a mother helps in bringing that reality to the acting, especially
when she has to deal with motherly issues. "That is one desperate
housewife". Gotta love the humor.
Billie
and Leo - Ok, this was something I didn't expect to see, especially
since Brian Kraus' contract was cut short to about ten episodes. I liked
the fact that Leo was teaching Billie about Magic School and the Elders.
The writer was able to give Leo more purpose, because he's not an elder and
he's not an avatar and he's not even in charge of magic school. So
what were they supposed to do with Leo other than be the constant support system
of the girls and father to the boys? This. I hope the budget allows
the Charmed Powers That Be to give Brian more episodes so that he can continue
to teach Billie, and thus, help her become a powerful ally to the girls.
As for Billie, I'm really starting to adore
Kaley Cuoco. She is doing such a good job in bringing Billie to life, and
I love how the writers are giving Billie cool and familiar powers, a la Prue.
She's telekinetic, and seeing her practice with the karate chops was
reminiscent of the first season when the girls discovered their powers and
became curious on how to use them and how they would grow. She's also
great eye candy, which can bring more male viewers to the show...at least more
than what they have already. Hee hee
Leo and Billie looked hot in demonwear at Magic School, and it shows that they
have a good working chemistry together, so that while the sisters are off doing
their things, Leo and Billie can take care of the kids and do their own thing to
help out. And we finally got to see Billie have some concern over demons
while she pondered the whole "source" and "magic school being taken over
by demons" fiasco.
Phoebe, Dex and Paige– Although the episode tried to expand on the Dex/Phoebe
relationship, I really wasn't feeling it. I know the writers are trying
to get to a point here with Dex (which we will find out in the next episode),
but in my opinion, its just a filler story. It's just progressing way
too fast, and I know...we have to move it along for storyline purposes, but if
there could be more reality to it, such as have Dex pry a little more in "Julie’s" life. It just seems as though he saw the pretty face and
bam, I like her cause she is related to Phoebe. What I did like to
see was Paige butting in again. Why? Because it is what real sisters do,
and Paige has always watched out for Phoebe ever since Cole, just like Phoebe
had her concerns with Richard and Kyle. It was so funny to see Phoebe
attack Paige on the floor...that was a hoot! It keeps the episode light
and at the same time is full of emotion.
Knicks and Knacks - We finally got to see baby Chris!
Where has he been all this time? And while Leo and Billie went to Magic School,
who was watching him? Hmmm...I think the writers need to watch out for things
like that, because although us die hard fans would assume that Papa Bennett is
taking care of him, we did not see him throughout the episode, and the sisters
seemed busy doing other things. Let's keep it as real as possible ok
guys?
The Source was back...I wonder if he will come back again? That female
demon was creepy looking...she could have been that source's wife!
Well, I look forward to the next episode as we see Phoebe's premonition come
true...a bit ahead of its time thanks to Billie.
See ya then!
