"Prince Charmed"
By Julie Burk
Piper and Leo are getting back together! Hurrah! Hurrah!
Okay, for me, the best part about this episode were the little things, like
the longing look Piper gave the picture of her and Leo at the beginning of
the show. And, of course, the bracelet that Leo gave Piper. It makes me wonder if Prue told him where to find the charm bracelet. That would be
really neat, but it is one of those things we’ll probably never find
out.
Although we have heard the “you can’t give up on love” speech from Phoebe
and Paige a thousand times, I loved hearing it from Chris. He seemed almost
panicked that Piper might give up on men. By the way, has anyone else noticed that Drew Fuller’s acting seems to be getting better and better?
I liked the part of the show with David, but I couldn’t help screaming
“PERSONAL GAIN!” at my television set when Phoebe and Paige were cooking him
up. So now, Piper’s dates (if there are any more) will not only have to
compete with an angel, but the perfect man, as well.
During the creation process of David, I couldn’t help but notice that Paige
and Phoebe described Leo perfectly, at least with the “ingredients” we could
hear, such as sensitive and handy around the house. I almost expected Leo to
pop into the room when they were done.
On the personal gain issue, I liked that Piper pointed out how this was something they would have done years ago. It did seem like a season one idea
Phoebe would have come up with. Later in the show, when all three of the girls were at the dinner table, I
thought it was a really great idea to have all the girls see him differently.
The girls finally know why Chris is really back from the future, to save
Wyatt from turning evil. I almost felt that his revealing of this was anti-climactic. After several months of carefully guarding his secret, it
just pops out with almost no fanfare. I know Piper didn’t believe him that
Wyatt would be evil in the first place (and honestly, what mom would) but we
didn’t get to see if she accepted this as truth later. I hope they address
her feelings on this in a future episode.
When we saw The Order, I was hoping for some serious bad guys who could really test the sisters. They reminded me of The Triad, at least until they
started lining up to be blasted to bits. Honestly, if I had just seen three
or four of my demon buds blown up by a baby, there’s no way I’d offer to go
to his house. It was really interesting that Wyatt is reincarnated from a demon leader. We
know that Phoebe was evil in a past life and has had to fight evil temptations in this life, so I wonder if this isn’t something that Wyatt is
going to have to deal with his entire life. I’m quite sure that this isn’t
the end for Chris in the past, so I think we can look for more demons trying
to convert Wyatt.
I still don’t understand why the sisters were against binding Wyatt’s
powers, even if it is only temporary. They acted as though they would be
stripping them permanently. I don’t feel that Phoebe or Paige should have
had any say in the matter, as he is Piper and Leo’s son.
There was a lot of sisterly interaction in this episode. Usually, each sister has her own little mini-plot, but this week, they were all together,
which I liked. It is nice to have them do their separate thing sometimes,
but the best episodes seem to focus on the three as sisters. The actresses
really seemed to enjoy the food fight scene. I thought it was strange that
they would bother to change their outfits before going to save Wyatt,
however. Who cares if there’s cake on your shirt, your baby has been kidnapped!
It looks as though we’ll see Phoebe move back into the house next week,
judging by previews of the show. I can’t help but wonder if Paige will
follow soon after, as she had nothing but negative things to say about Richard this week. |
