"Great Show Brad Kern" is the only way I can begin his
review. This episode was on the fastrack. It was a never ending ride of
suspense, as Piper and Leo moved from time to time, picking up passages (Patty
and Penny) as they went. One of my most favorite moments was when Piper saw Leo
after discovering that Phoebe and Paige had been killed. It just seemed all of
the life of determination returned when she saw Leo standing there with the
Angel of Destiny. It was a heart wrenching moment when Victor found out about
the death of the sisters and the surprised look when he saw Leo walk through his
front door. Poor Victor was going to get many surprises in this episode.
I laughed through tears when Piper and Leo showed up in 1975 in
her parents' bedroom and again when Grams passed out from sheer shock of finding
Patty standing in front of her and not in the ghostly manner. How the writers
and Brad Kern pulled this show together with everyone involved was nothing short
of genius. I must stay one of the best scenes was when Chris and Wyatt orbed in.
It was great seeing these two act out sibling rivalry. What fun when Wyatt
exclaimed "Uncle Coop" after Coop showed up and the smile that creped
upon his face at the possibility of a future with Phoebe. The cast just
interacted so well with one another you could tell after eight years of working
together that they had become a family. A most mentionable part was when Piper,
Leo and Patty went to the future and you see senior Piper and Leo playing
scrabble. Still the love showed through with these actors playing an older Piper
and Leo. Letting the younger couple know that everything they had been through
was well worth the fight. I have recorded this episode and have viewed it
several times, enjoying as if it were the first. I thought my heart would have
jump in my throat when I saw the Angel of Destiny take Leo back. I began to tear
up and was asking the TV why, why again, as if it would answer me. I kept my
hopes high and prayed that this ending would not be disappointing. When the
final battle had be won by our victorious Charmed Ones and Billie had to
vanquish Christie, it was a very sad scene to see Billie collapse to the floor
in horror at what she had to do.
All of my fears came to an end, when everyone began to arrive
back at the manor and Leo returned. I screamed with joy at the outcome and with
astonishment that I have never loved a show more in my entire life than I had
this one. I have watched it faithfully from the day it had aired in October of
1998. The most memorable scene of all, was when the Charmed Ones where telling
about the history of there lives and how they turned out. You could not have
asked for a better ending of how they girls all each had found everlasting love
and three children each. I guess the power of three, three times over was a nice
touch. To see the sisters with their perspective husbands and children was like
sharing their lives with them and letting us know how each sister overcame their
fears and was able to experience their dreams. Piper finally opening her own
restaurant, Phoebe writing the best seller and Paige helping future witches and
white lights. Each sister doing what they had always wanted to accomplish. The
tears of joy poured down my face as I watched Leo and Piper climb the stairs of
the manor as they passed pictures of family over the years. Then to have Piper's
grandchild use her power to close the manor doors for the last time was an
ending that the fans could say their goodbyes to.
As I sit in front of my laptop trying to determine on how I will
write this final review of a beloved show ending. I don’t truly know if this
is a review or a tribute to an Icon that gave as well as received. It showed the
fans how to believe in something that was not real. To always have hope and
achieve your highest goals and desires. As I watched this final episode unfold,
I knew that Brad Kern had kept his word about giving the fans a finale that they
could be proud of and well deserved. I am finding it difficult to write such
things because I know that this is an end of an era. Charmed became a friend
that you grew to love and now will miss. Even though we have the technology of
VHS and DVD, along with syndication to continuously see are cast of great
actors. It isn’t the same. We know that things must come to an end that is how
life continues to evolve and how we grow. This episode was everything and more.
It was wonderful to see all cast members hugging at the end. It was sad not to
see two of it’s members Prue and Cole, but at least Prue had an honorable
mention and I like to thing Cole had something to do with Phoebe finding love
again.
It is with a full heart of sorrow that we say goodbye to such a
wittily, strong, humorous and lovingly dedicated group of people. It is hard to
believe such things are ending, but it was an ending to beat all endings. This
show had all of the wonderful aspects of good writing and especially great
acting. Perhaps we will see a future with Wyatt and Chris, now that would make a
great spin off, but that is another story, for another time…..
I like to think I speak for all fans when I say thank you for letting
us be a part of your Charmed Family. It was a spell binding eight years. Brad
Kern has properly named this finale, for the Sisters, Leo, and the Storylines
will always be FOREVER CHARMED.........
