"Kudos"
to Brad Kern on a well-written episode! I have been quite skeptical that this
season could hold a candle to past seasons, but as I've watched, I've been
pleasantly surprised. The writers have definitely made many of the fans,
including myself, very happy with the direction this season has taken. The
sisters didn't just cast a spell or use memory dust; they're actually going to
have to deal with this.
When I saw the previews for the episode, it
didn't look so
thrilling, but I was wrong. This was actually a very good episode, with a very
original and creative plot. The fact that Piper's new "identity" was
actually a person makes me wonder: What's the story behind the new "identities" of Phoebe, Paige, and even Leo? Are they actually people
or are they just made up?
The part with Leo and Eve was funny I definitely enjoyed it! Eve
was the first woman this season so far to flirt with Leo and I doubt she will be
the last. Not only did Leo choose a good-looking guy as his new "identity",
but he also didn't wear his wedding ring. That attracts many women, including
Eve, to him. When Carl came over to hit Leo and he told Piper what happened, she
definitely enjoyed the punch Carl executed. I think she really wanted to punch
him herself for leading Eve on, but Carl did it for her.
Piper definitely proved that she could handle herself with her
cellmate. A big, most likely strong woman proved to be no match for witch Piper.
She quickly froze her cellmate as she tried to attack her and then hit her in
the head with the tray. I think she would think twice before trying Piper again,
don't you? Also, Piper's confidence when she and Nance were talking alone was
amazing! Holly Marie Combs is a great actress and it was shown in that scene.
It was great to see Phoebe
at The Bay Mirror she truly belongs there! It was nice that as a part of
Phoebe’s new life as Julie Bennet she could still do what she loves. Giving
advice is her calling and the writers were smart as to not take her away from
that.
The dynamic between Billie
and the sisters, especially Paige, is great. Paige has her hands full with
Billie. She has to give her limitations because she is still a novice; she has a
long way to go until she is anywhere near the Charmed Ones' level. Paige
struggles with Billie a little, but she's learning to cope. As for Billie, she
attracts a new age with her daring behavior and attitude, her flare, and her
confidence. She is so anxious to learn about the craft and fight demons, and
that's a good thing. Part of being good at anything is loving what you do!
Billie is definitely going to be able to help the sisters with fighting demons.
She has great potential and with proper training, she could turn into a fine
witch. The sisters will be "Rewitched" soon and maybe once the Charmed
Ones are back, they can work with Billie and fight the forces of evil together.
On the Phoebe/Dex front, I
think that they are a very good couple. Dex seems to know Phoebe very well and I
think they would work well together. As far as I'm concerned, it would be
wonderful if he and Phoebe did get married and had a baby together. She finally
deserves to be happy!
On a bit of a side note, it's
nice to the sisters leading normal lives. They are able to go out and live like
normal people; no demonic worries whatsoever. Phoebe is able to pursue her
relationship with Dex, Paige is able to focus on training Billie, and Piper can
focus on her family. They don't have to constantly use their powers to fight
evil and their lives aren't threatened daily. It is a refreshing change!
Overall, the episode was
very enjoyable! Maya turned out to be innocent and Billie's plan to defeat Nance
was bloody brilliant! Using the Demon of Fear as inspiration and turning Nance's
fear of aging against him was so incredibly intelligent; Billie has good
instincts and she could prove to be a great asset.
Until next week, stay Charmed!
