| I have to say that this is the first “legend” type story line from Charmed
that I have truly enjoyed. The fairy tales in season five were a bit much,
but the writers hit the nail on the head with this episode. Also, the legend
of the Lady of the Lake and Avalon have been my ultimate favorite ever since
I read “Mists of Avalon” by Marion Zimmer Bradley. I thought that this was a
great take on an old tale. I only wish we could have seen more of the Lady
of the Lake. (No fault of the show here, just a junky for Arthurian legend.)
Piper: My favorite Charmed episodes are nearly always the ones that focus on
Piper, and this was no exception.
She still seems to be struggling with balancing her magickal life versus her
“normal” life, but this episode helped her work out those issues and realize
that her number one priority is Wyatt. I can’t even imagine how hard it
would be to raise a baby, let alone raise such a powerful, magickal baby,
and now he has the added powers of Excalibur.
We saw again the other members of the magickal community, and I am still
wondering why we can see the fairy. In “Once upon a time” the sisters could
only see the fairies by using the fairy dust, but ever since that episode,
it seems that there is no need for fairy dust.
Holly Marie Combs was awesome in this episode. Her “Oh, crap” line was
priceless; I loved the delivery. Later in the episode, when Mordaunt stabbed
her, it looked so realistic, and the shocked look on her face gave me a jolt.
Why oh why are Piper and Leo not together? I really hope the writers are
leading up to something good with this plot. The looks that Piper and Leo
were exchanging at the end of the episode were so longing that I was screaming at my television for them to get back together. And I can’t
remember, are Elders supposed to feel others’ pain, or was that special for
Leo and Piper?
Paige: I was so glad to see Richard again, and hope that he and Paige stay
together. I’m curious about Richard’s powers. What was he doing to the sink,
and what other powers might he have? I hope we get some answers in coming
episodes.
The sisterly bonding that had been missing from the rest of the season made
a visit with Paige and Phoebe in this episode, even though at first it was
negative.
I’m not sure if Paige got a progression in her powers or if she could always
orb objects to places without seeing where they went, but it was really funny that she kept crashing the rock into furniture.
Phoebe: Nosy nosy! Phoebe just can’t seem to keep her nose out of Paige’s
business! She seemed to be genuinely concerned, however, and although many
may be wondering why she should be so concerned since she married a demon,
but I think her concern stems from the fact that she did marry a demon, and
the results of that marriage on her life. I did wonder, though, why Phoebe
didn’t read Richard’s emotions. I also wonder what Phoebe meant when she
said that the last time Richard used magick, he lost it. If I am remembering
correctly, the last time he used magick, he thought his mother had been killed, and I don’t think even then that he lost it.
If I had an assistant like Paige, I would have never let her go! She had
Phoebe’s papers and schedule organized in one day. I really liked the scene
where Phoebe apologized to Paige. I hope that Phoebe keeps a good attitude
to Richard for future episodes.
It’s all in the details: Everyone in this episode had the best hair I have
ever seen. Since Piper has had awesome hair since the beginning of time, I
won’t go into details. Phoebe’s hair looks so much better fluffed up. I’m
not a fan of super short hair for women, but when she spikes it up a little
it looks really cute. Even Richard had good hair; I like his hair much better now that he has cut it.
Piper looked awesome in that black costume!
Where was Chris? There was hardly any mention of him, other than he has apparently been taken off the Charmed Ones’ “account.”
The neighbors must be terrified of the sisters. What would you think if you
saw a dwarf hustle out of there like that?
